I loved her too much and I shot her is a workshop developed with French trainer and coach Isabelle Demangeat. It aims to encourage recognition of the cultural roots of gender-based violence and its manifestations, in order to learn how to counter it.
Excerpts from articles and international domestic violence and feminicide trials since 1848 bring to light, in fragments, the voices of abused women, their aggressors and witnesses of the events, revealing a frightening topicality and recurrence of actions, speeches and positions that justify the aggressors and denigrate women. Printed on large fabrics with a cross-stitch typeface, these testimonies become the basis for a collective, itinerant embroidery.
During the workshop, participants are invited to embroider their crosses on fabrics whose testimonies resonate with their own direct experience of life or work. Embroidery thus becomes a tool for measuring the spread of the everyday experience of gender-based violence.
A shared action of awareness, imagination and struggle against unequal and patriarchal cultural paradigms, in an attempt to trace, even visually, alternatives and escape routes.
The workshop lays the foundations for the creation of the eponymous artist’s notebook.
